Newborn Session Tips

  • I recommend that baby is photographed as soon as possible. 0-14 days is best. That way baby is still able to be posed and will likely sleep most of the session
  • Play and interact with your awake baby lots in the time leading up to your session. We want baby to be nice and sleepy during the session, not ready to play!
  • A baby with a full tummy is a happy, sleepy baby ;) Please be prepared to feed baby a few times during your session. If you live close to the studio, feed baby before you leave home and hopefully he/she will be in a nice deep sleep upon arriving at your session.
  • Newborn sessions take up to 3 hours, we won’t rush and will follow baby’s lead! We will spend lots of time soothing and snuggling your little one, so feel free to bring snacks, or a coffee. Be sure you let any accompanying guests know it will take this long!
  • Bring some extra wipes and burp cloths, and maybe even a spare shirt as almost all parents get peed or pooped on during a session. It’s hard to avoid with a naked newborn around! The room will be nice and warm, we want baby to be comfortable enough to sleep in the nude. Dressing in layers is a good idea!
  • If you have older children you’d like photographed with your newborn, we will do those pictures either at the beginning or end of the session. 3 hours is along time for a brother or sister so be prepared to bring something to keep them occupied. Coloring books, or a nice quiet toy is a good idea. If possible have someone pick the older child up when their part is done (that way they don't get overly bored).
  • I cant promise that all poses will be done and all props will get used. I will follow the baby’s lead and wont try something that the baby wont let happen. We don’t want to aggravate the baby and cause him/her to be upset for the rest of the session.
  • If you have anything special like a family heirloom or special outfit that you would like to be included in the photos please feel free to bring it!

Maternity Session Tips

  • Obviously your choice of clothing is entirely up to you but I do have some suggestions. If you are doing a maternity timeline I ask that you where the same outfit to each of those sessions to get the same look and show belly changes. for a full maternity session you are welcome to bring a few outfit changes, I would suggest something you feel comfortable in as well as something that shows your wonderful bump!
  • For the timeline mini sessions it will be just photos of you, but for a full maternity session you are welcome to bring a spouse or other child. Please explain to them the shoot will be up to an hour and half. Children do get antsy so it’s a good idea to have someone available to pick them up once their part is done, or bring them something to do like coloring or their favorite portable toy.
  • If you have anything you would like included in the photos you are encouraged to bring it along. Like an ultrasound pic for example or those snazzy newborn shoes you just bought!
  • Don’t be afraid to let me know if you cannot do certain poses or need a little break at anytime!
  • Being a mom of two I know what its like to be pregnant. So feel free to bring a snack or drink with you. There will be a bathroom available for your use as well.

Children/Cake smash Sessions

  • Bring children changes of clothes. Accidents happen and for cake smashes things get messy!
  • The focus is aimed at the children so please refrain from dressing them in clothing with giant logos that will take the focus off their gorgeous little faces.
  • For cake smashes I also recommend parents to bring themselves a change of clothes, often children need to be 'encouraged' to partake in the smashing session as its not something they are often allowed to do.
  • Please only bring children that are going to be involved in the session. Extra children standing around are a disraction for the other children and make things alot more difficult.
  • Before the actual smashing regular one year photos will be taken so your welcome to bring a special outfit for this.
  • I provide all props but if there is something specific you would like to be in the photos feel free to bring it.
  • If there are ANY allergies food related or otherwise it is required that you make me aware.

Family Session Tips

  • Please refrain from wearing outfits with big logos or writing on them. They tend to attract the focus away from the family members.
  • I recommend the family not all wearing the same color/pattern but accent colors that match each other instead. I included some photos that is merely a helpful guide to complementary colors and not a requirement. Feel free to dress your family however you choose.
  • If your still having a hard time choosing what to wear search “what to wear for family photos” on Pinterest (if you have it) and there are many ideas there.
  • Your welcome to bring a lot a few toys or items to keep the children occupied while photos are being taken of other family members.
  • I often like to bring Smarties as a handy helper to get children to participate if needed. If this is something you do not want please feel free to let me know!
  • If there are any items or heirlooms you would like included in the photos your welcome to bring them along.
